Jeremy Houghton has been teaching art for over 8
years. In Cape Town he taught the A-level
students, and since returning to the UK he has
been teaching watercolours to adults of all
standards.
He runs day courses from his studio in the
Cotswolds, and takes painting holidays to such
destinations as Scotland and Italy. He teaches
traditional painting techniques with an emphasis
on the importance of drawing and composition.
One advantage of coming on a Houghtonart course
or holiday is that Jessica Avery cooks all the
meals. Jessica studied History of Art and has
lived in both Rome and Florence. The Italian
influence on her Prue Leith trained cooking
results in mouth-watering dishes which are a
real treat for both the painters and
non-painters on the Holidays. All this, combined
with Jeremy’s love of fine wine (Ex Wine Society
President 1996-97) means that Houghtonart
students could not ask for a more relaxing,
enlightening and enjoyable artist’s feast.
